 What is a RDH?

Do you know who cleans your teeth? Ask for a RDH!

Registered dental hygienists (RDH) are licensed oral health professionals who use preventive, educational and therapeutic methods to prevent oral disease in an effort to achieve total health. A state license and the RDH designation assure patients that the person providing preventive oral health care has completed the educational requirements at an accredited college and has successfully completed national and regional board examinations.

Please read “What to Expect from a Dental Hygiene Appointment” for information on what services a registered dental hygienist provides and  “What You Should Know About Who is Cleaning Your Teeth—On the Job Training”.  for further information on why a registered dental hygienist is your key to obtaining quality oral health care.

Who We Are

The Missouri Dental Hygienists' Association is a state constituent of the American Dental Hygienists' Association.

We exist to provide information and services to both our dental hygienist members and the general public. We are college-educated, licensed prevention experts in oral health and strive to educate and help the public in obtaining and maintaining good oral health, as well as expand consumer awareness of dental hygiene issues. This web site is one avenue with which we are achieving this goal.  Research today supports the concept that good oral health is absolutely essential to good systemic health. This is one reason why  Registered Dental Hygienists are the public's key to receiving quality preventive oral health care!
